Full Chat On Houthi Attack Plans (X/@mamewhit)
As the Atlantic published the entire Signal chat of Trump senior national security officials on Wednesday, US Vice President JD Vance made a statement stating that Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg "oversold" the story.
"It's very clear (Jeffrey) Goldberg oversold what he had," Vance tweeted on Wednesday in reference to the Atlantic editor-in-chief who was inadvertently placed in the top Trump officials' Signal group chat in which they discussed military plans. The conversation stream in which US President Donald Trump's government is observed as deliberating the airstrikes against Yemeni Houthi fighters and which indicated that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth gave the precise launch times of warplane sorties, strike packages and targets — prior to the men and women operating those attacks against Yemen's Houthis this month on behalf of America being in the air.
The revelation comes after two frenetic days in which Trump's most senior Cabinet members of his intelligence and defense departments have grappled to account for how information that current and former US officials have stated would have been classified ended up on an unclassified Signal chat that had the Atlantic's editor-in-chief. Hegseth has declined to comment on whether he posted classified material onto Signal and has ridiculed questions, stating he did not disclose "war plans". National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe informed members of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday that it was Hegseth's responsibility to decide whether the content he was sharing was classified or not. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard stated it was an error that the editor of The Atlantic had been added to a Signal messaging chat concerning sensitive war plans, when she testified before the House of Representatives hearing on Worldwide Threats. What was disclosed was stunning in its detail and comprises the kind of information that is maintained to a very tight secret to safeguard the operational security of a military attack
